Blond Joke

A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports carand was pulled over by a woman police officer who was also a blonde. The blonde cop asked to see the blonde driver's license. She dug through her purse and was getting progressively more agitated."What does it look like?" she finally asked. The policewoman replied, "It's square and it has your picture on it."

The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at it andhanded it to the policewoman."Here it is," she said. The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying,"Okay, you can go. I didn't realize you were a cop."

Nicole, There's a man in your flat.

I don't know whats funnier about the above picture. My sister screaming into Sasse's ear or the multiple wine glasses.

Poor Nicole.

These are tough to watch.

I didn't quite expect this girl's reaction to be quite so strong.

Lords of Dogtown and a sad but true story

FREDERICA, Del. - The apparent suicide of a woman found hanging from a tree went unreported for hours because passers-by thought the body was a Halloween decoration, authorities said.
The 42-year-old woman used rope to hang herself across the street from some homes on a moderately busy road late Tuesday or early Wednesday, state police said.
The body, suspended about 15 feet above the ground, could be easily seen from passing vehicles.
State police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Oldham and neighbors said people noticed the body at breakfast time Wednesday but dismissed it as a holiday prank. Authorities were called to the scene more than three hours later.
"They thought it was a Halloween decoration," Fay Glanden, wife of Mayor William Glanden, told The (Wilmington) News Journal.
"It looked like something somebody would have rigged up," she said.

Lords of Dogtown

Lords of Dogtown was a bit of a surprise for me. I enjoyed Thirteen and was curious what catherine Hardwicke would do as a follow up. Lords of Dogtown was inspried froma recent documentary about the three men considered to be pioneers od the sport of skating.

I could care less about skating as this was more of a West Coast sport. My neighbors growing up moved here from California and built a full halfpipe in their backyards. I still never had a desire to skate. I guess it was one of those things that never really grabbed me.

As far as Lords of Dogtown as a movie I have to say I'm impressed. This film does it all from a cinematography point of view. They use real skaters who filmed the scenes while skating and give the film a gritty feel. The behind the scenes footage shows just how difficult these scenes were to shoot, especially when the camera man is skating and shooting while being pulled by a car. Computer CGI is used to make some incredible shots. The California Peer they made was brilliant.

Home

I went to the Fox Theatre over the weekend in St. Louis for business. This was a very nice historical site I was not aware of. The architecture and decorations is a combination of Asian, Indian and Moorish. Its quite a site. I'm glad to be home. That silly hurricane down south was causing some flight cancellations. Thats not cool at all.

The International airport in Detroit is also impressive. There is a very cool walkway and a water fountain thing that I would have thought was the greatest thing in the world when i was a kid.

Time's 100 Greatest English Language Novels 1923-Present

Time has published their list of the 100 greatest novels from 1923-present.

I like how Judy Blume is here as well as William Gibson but they left out a Farewell to Arms and Ender's Game. Nabokov was here twice and as always the dissapointing slaughterhouse-Five.
Thats cool tho, to each their own. They did include the Great Gatsby ofcouse and maybe someday they will add Watership Down or the Davinci Code. I'm still surpised but happy that Neuromancer made this list as did Things Fall Apart. I'll probably try to read a few of these. These books are often public domain and available for free as either text and sometimes audiobooks. I'm still surpised that Judy Blume is here. Twenty years ago she would have been considered much too mainstream.
------------

Now this is a good Aliens review! A great review for a classic film.

There are tons of little tidbits to notice during any given Lost episode.
This picture is one of many and perhaps what makes the show so fun to watch.

I am thinking Dominic is one very lucky guy in real life. ----->

5 embarrassing/bad memories from your youth:

My first memory, running then falling in a puddle, I cried.
Falling into a pool then being surprised I could breath underwater?

Singing in chorus and having my voice break and having the teacher give a lecture about how its normal for a person’s voice to break.

Not knowing what Pour Some Sugar on me was. A friend of mine was soo shocked at my lack of 80’s hairband knowledge. I was into Rap at that age, what few bands there were. I liked the story elements and less repeated choruses.

In 5th grade some friends were talking about “dirty” things and I asked what a condom was. They told me what it was after laughing at me for a few minutes. The good thing is they were pretty hot so that was the closest thing I had had to sex at that point.

In third grade walking and kinda singing “like a virgin” My grandmother says “stop that!”

5 joyful memories from your youth: (Not a very good list, I kinda rambled)

I had a great childhood and have so many great memories.
Being very tall very early. Up until my senior year in high school there were many advantages to being one of the taller kids in school. I was a bit of a giant in grade school. Walking the halls in Junior High was odd as everyone was soo tiny.

Putting 200 political signs on my buddy’s lawn then a for sale sign. He got a few calls then got me back with putting every neighbor’s pumpkins in my garage. I got home and see a sign written by my mother “If you are missing a pumpkin it may be here”

Halloween was always a blast sadly up until early high school. I loved making costumes and in 8th grade we had a Halloween school contest I came in second dressed as the Witch King complete with glowing red eyes. The contest was judged by clapping of the entire school and I could not beat the guy dressed as Pee Wee Herman. He was good. Umm, anyways back to my point. Halloween was very fun!
Teachers reading books in class. I loved that, loved hearing what was going to happen next to Fudge, The Indian in the cupboard, etc etc. When my third grade teacher was reading Superfudge the book mentioned that "ofcourse there was no Santa ." That game as a bit of a shock to me.

Book Fairs days!
Tater Tots
Basically everything School related and home related. I loved sports, open houses, science fairs, chorus, classes, growing up near the lake, snowmobiling, paintball, I was even in a Bell Band. I thought I had to do everything and loved it all.

Man, I’m writing too much. One more funny thing. In High School we were the home team for a baseball game. We put dead birds on the visitor’s bench, Portland of course. They were like “what a bunch of hicks.” One of my buddies was dared to eat a “piece” of wing, which he did.
I guess that is not a very funny story but it kind of just came to me just now.

Precipace, History of Violence, Serenity

I Was going through some pictures from yet another recent Acadia trip and noticed a picture of the precipace. This was a tough trail and extremely dangerous. I knew there was some exposed cliff sections but I was not prepared for the amount of cliffs and more importantly broken rungs. If people die on this trail which the big sign says before you climb, perhaps some of these should be fixed.
I was telling how I climbed this trail when the person I was speaking to tells me how she climbed the precipace the traditional mountain climbing way. That would be scary and I doubt I will ever dare something like that.
-----------------------------------------------------
History of Violence

Man, what an overrated film. This was ok, but there is nothing special here. I do not like the use of overly gory and bloody scenes for no purpose. This film seemed to take pleasure in these shots for no real reason.
----------------------------------------------------

Serenity

This was a good movie and a welcome relief after the Constant Gardner and The History Of Violence. If you are a fan of Firefly this film is kind of the final chapter of the series. Since it bombed in theatres I doubt they will make new episodes which is what was the desired intention.
Serenity is what The newest Star Wars film should have been, a very good science fiction movie. This isn't a classic film or anything just a very good one and a fitting ending to the television series. This show should have been the next Star Trek but instead will fade away as a cult show that never had its chance. I am very surprised they pulled this off for only 45 million. The sets and special effects were better than movies with 4 times the budget. The final battle was one of the bigger sci fi scenes ever filmed.

The Lost Numbers

The writers of Lost are big baseball fans. For a brief moment I thought the numbers might be from retired Red Sox players. I was a bit excited until my roomate brought in a picture he took at a recent game of the retired numbers. They did not match. My heart sank and then a horrible thought entered my mind. What baseball team has that many retired players? Few do, just one very evil team that represents all that is unholy.

I did the dreaded yahoo search "retired yankees numbers."
The numbers matched. I sighed.
I then checked to see where JJ Abrams was from. New York.

Ofcourse the numbers can still be very evil so that would make sense that they are Yankees numbers. I did a yahoo search and did not find any other mention of this comparison so it may be way off.

That being said, lost is not quite as good as last year. The show after Lost, invasion is very good so far.

This is Classic

Baseball Card Fun (Read through these, they are very well done.)

If you are looking for a good TV show, check out Bodies on BBC America. The stuff they get away with, this is like watching an HBO show. Bodies is a great hospital show in the vein of ER.

Firefly is also a great show to watch. The movie Serenity that just opened is based on this show.
This should have been the next Star Trek type series. This is one of the better shows in recent memory.
I don't get Fox sometimes. Firefly got the Family Guy treatment where they gave up on the show before it was aired. Fox in fact showed the show out of order and at different times. I remember catching a couple of episodes but having a tough time finding it. The reason they are making a major movie from the show was a result of the DVD sales, similar to Family Guy.

If you do not mind science fiction take a look at this show. This has it all: Great design concept and acting, fun stories and very good writing. I'll try to get to the movie sometime this week.
